In this edition of Behind the Build, we’re featuring Joe Braschwitz, a skilled carpenter whose career began in a high school construction trade program. From dirt bikes to indoor pools, Joe shares what drew him into the industry, what he loves most about his role at Momentum, and how it felt to help bring a complex riverfront project to life.
1. What inspired you to get into construction and design?
During high school, I participated in a construction trade program that gave me hands-on experience and a deeper understanding of the field. I found the work incredibly rewarding, and it inspired me to continue learning and ultimately pursue a career in the industry.
2. What do you love most about your role at Momentum?
Learning every day and working on unique projects.
3. What’s a memorable project you've worked on, and what made it special?
One of my favorite experiences was working on our Huron River Bluff project. It was exciting to be part of a larger-scale job, and I especially enjoyed seeing the indoor pool come together, it added a unique and impressive element to the build. Being involved in a project of that scope gave me a deeper appreciation for the coordination and creativity required to bring complex designs to life.
4. What do you enjoy doing outside of work?
Hanging out with friends and family. I also enjoy riding dirt bikes and taking trips up north.
5. What’s an unexpected fact about you most people don’t know?
I’m the youngest of our entire extended family, I have over 30 cousins!
