In this edition of Behind the Build, we’re spotlighting Dan Sopinski, one of Momentum’s dedicated Project Managers. From transforming raw materials into meaningful spaces to finding joy at home with his pup, Steve, Dan shares what inspires his work and life.
1. What inspired you to get into construction and design?
Taking materials and turning them into something tangible and rewarding is more than just construction — it’s transformation. Whether it’s a home that holds a family’s memories or a commercial space that fuels creativity and connection, the reward lies not only in the finished product but in the process itself.
2. What do you love most about your role at Momentum?
I enjoy working with a team of talented individuals who all add their expertise to a robust process. It’s fun to work with friends.
3. What’s a memorable project you’ve worked on, and what made it special?
A recently completed Burns Park Addition Project comes to mind. It was one of those rare projects that leaves a lasting impression. From unexpected site constraints to intricate design requirements, it presented a series of challenges that demanded creativity, collaboration, and precision. But what truly made it special wasn’t just overcoming the hurdles — it was seeing the joy and satisfaction on our clients’ faces when the final space came to life.
4. What do you enjoy doing outside of work?
Home is my happy place. I enjoy gardening and hanging out by the campfire. Most of all, I enjoy coming home to my happy pup, Steve!
5. What’s an unexpected fact about you most people don’t know?
I am an ordained minister. I have married two couples and renewed vows for one—my godmother and her husband.
